The successful candidate will work remotely, often at customer sites to support the delivery of commissioning, startup, and reliability solutions.</p> <p> </p> <p>The successful candidate will bring a solid understanding of electrical distribution, motor control, and programmable devices, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), programmable smart overloads, and other intelligent control devices. A strong ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues in the field is critical to success in this role.</p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><h2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>Role and Responsibilities</b></h2> </div><div><p><strong>Technical Expertise:</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Lead MCC and VFD startup and commissioning activities, including verification of motor control components, VFD programming, smart device configuration (e.g., RVSS, overloads, power meters, breakers), pre-shipment testing, onsite commissioning, and troubleshooting</li> <li>Interpret electrical diagrams and documentation; apply knowledge of three-phase systems, transformers, control circuits, and CSA-compliant electrical installations.</li> <li>Use diagnostic tools (multimeters, meggers, ductors, TTRs, torque wrenches) to test and troubleshoot systems</li> <li>Follow and provide input for continuous improvement of electrical safety practices (LOTO, PPE, grounding, arc flash); conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code 22.1, CSA 254, and industry standards</li> <li>Develop and execute PdMA testing programs (rotor, stator, insulation, air gap, power quality, power circuits), including MCSA, motor vibration, infrared thermography, and greasing (with clear standards and training)</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Team & Program Development:</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Learn and provide support to peers with respect to lifecycle services including commissioning and startup activities</li> <li>Develop and deliver technical training internally and externally where needed</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Customer & Business Engagement:</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Work with customers, sales, and service teams to deliver on-site technical services to support Spartan solutions</li> <li>Strong communication skills for customer interaction and technical reporting</li> <li>Ensure alignment with Spartan safety standards through collaboration with the Safety Department</li> <li>Prepare clear, timely technical documentation and reports</li> <li>Travel as required to support customers and program execution</li> </ul> <p> </p></div></div><div style="padding:10.0px 0.0px;border:1.0px solid transparent"><div style="font-size:16.0px;word-wrap:break-word"><h2 style="font-size:1.0em;margin:0.0px"><b>Qualifications and Skills</b></h2> </div><div><ul type="disc"> <li>Degree/technical diploma in Electrical Engineering/Technologist or equivalent experience, or a trade certification (e.g., Journeyman Electrician)</li> <li>Strong industrial electrical experience is required</li> <li>Fluent in reading and understanding schematics and strong troubleshooting for electrical and controls</li> <li>Willingness and ability to deploy to site on short notice</li> <li>Proven customer service skills and comfortable working independently in Customer facilities and industrial environments</li> <li>Effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills</li> <li>Highly motivated, innovative, and a self-starter Collaborator with ability to work independently</li> <li>Entrepreneurial work ethic</li> <li>Valid driver’s license, as travel is required </li> </ul></div></div></div><p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri, sans-serif">Spartan recognizes that there are many ways in which candidates develop knowledge, abilities, and competencies throughout their careers.
