Position Overview

The Executive Director, Corporate Communications plays a high-impact leadership role on CME Group’s global corporate communications team, serving as the strategic architect of the company’s narrative across international and commodities sectors and a critical bridge between CME Group's Chicago headquarters and the global markets where we promote our products and services to current and prospective clients.

This position requires an accomplished, innovative communications executive who can operate at the highest levels of the organization, providing counsel to senior leadership while orchestrating comprehensive communications programs across international regions (EMEA and Asia-Pacific) and commodities markets (energy, grains, livestock, metals) to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Strategic Responsibilities

As a senior strategic partner to the Managing Director and executive leadership team, the Executive Director will:

• Develop and execute comprehensive internal and external communications strategies to position CME Group as a market leader in EMEA and APAC, ensuring seamless alignment between global headquarters and regional business priorities

• Drive strategic positioning and thought leadership for CME Group's global commodities portfolio, collaborating with senior management to deliver integrated media relations, content strategies and promotional campaigns that accelerate customer engagement and market growth

• Serve as one of our chief company spokespeople, building and maintaining strategic relationships with global top-tier press, beat reporters, industry analysts as well as the next generation of digital creators/channels to shape market perceptions

• Lead and contribute to the development and distribution of high-impact content across all formats - press releases, executive bylines, owned and earned digital placements, video and compelling media pitches that position CME Group as the authoritative voice in global financial markets

• Shape global reputation management, ensuring brand consistency and strategic alignment across all markets - including through crisis communications and issues management, new product launches and promotions and general communications

• Provide strategic counsel and communications training to corporate executives, developing messaging frameworks, materials and optimal approaches for major announcements (product launches, geographic expansions, partnerships, M&A activity, etc.)

• Serve as a key member of the Global Brand Marketing & Communications leadership team, promoting and managing CME Group's reputation and generating awareness of our company, its products and services and leadership and points of view with key constituencies worldwide.

• Build, lead and optimize communications teams and/or agency partnerships across international regions to deliver business objectives, extend company reach and build brand equity

• Develop recommendations to customize and localize communications strategies including executive speaking opportunities, sponsorships and social media placements tailored to regional market dynamics

• Own the measurement and ROI frameworks for earned media and thought leadership content, demonstrating quantifiable business impact to executive stakeholders

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism‌ or related field; advanced degree preferred

• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in corporate communications or related field, with significant experience in both international markets and commodities sectors

• Demonstrated success in the evolving media landscape, proactively creating content across video, earned media and emerging social channels and news outlets

• Proven track record of proactive leadership, reputation management and crisis communications in complex, high-stakes communications challenges

• Extensive experience building, leading and scaling global teams

• Exceptional strategic vision with the ability to translate complex topics into breakthrough communications strategies that deliver competitive advantage

• Outstanding writing, editing‌ and presentation skills

• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-regional programs with demonstrable business impact and measurable ROI

• Strong business acumen and deep understanding of global financial markets, derivatives trading and commodities sectors

• Executive presence with the ability to represent the organization at the highest levels with media, industry leaders and key stakeholders

The pay range for this role is $177,100-$295,100. Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
