Senior Audiovisual and Event Support Technician Introduction to the team Our Technology Team partners with teams across Expedia Group to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. The Event Production Team, part of the IT family at Expedia Group, is responsible for delivering high-end value to Expedia Group’s internal and external (partner-facing) global events. We are a tight group of passionate and innovative individuals who consistently support each other in delivering first-class performance in our events and productions. We are looking for a dynamic individual who can operate effectively in a fast-paced environment as a Senior Audiovisual and Event Support Technician. The ideal candidate is confident and experienced in facilitating live events and broadcast, strategizing the implementation of new technologies, and maintaining our production inventory in excellent working order. In this role, you will: Lead end-to-end audio and AV delivery for live corporate events and broadcast productions, including setup, rehearsals, show execution, and strike to deliver seamless hybrid and in-room experiences. Own and manage full audio signal flow (microphones, consoles with groups/matrices, wireless RF coordination for clean coverage, processing, amplifiers, streaming encoders, recorders, and other outputs), performing root-cause analysis in real time when issues arise. Plan and run technical rehearsals, validating all production elements and aligning with customers on event design, walkthroughs, and technical requirements. Manage vendor estimates, labor coordination, and technical resource scheduling to ensure events are adequately staffed and supported. Actively research, test, and propose technology innovations that optimize the integration of audio, video, lighting, and staging for high-quality event experiences. Build and maintain clear technical documentation, including runbooks, signal-flow diagrams, and system configurations, providing training, guidance, and mentorship to junior team members on tools, workflows, and best practices. Maintain strong cross-team relationships, identify opportunities for process improvement, and support executive-facing IT needs during key events, including occasional travel, shift work, and weekend coverage. Experience and qualifications You have 3+ years of event production experience with a strong focus on live audio for events and broadcast environments with solid front-of-house experience, including operation of audio consoles, RF systems, microphones, playback, switching, and AV infrastructure. You have experience supporting corporate events, technical rehearsals, and live show execution (including supporting show calling) being familiar with audio consoles including Allen & Heath and Yamaha. You have exposure to video conferencing systems, live streaming workflows and knowledge across core IT disciplines (hardware, software, and networking) troubleshooting AV and IT issues end to end. You have excellent organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple events and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. You are comfortable working directly with executives and senior stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism, discretion and excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences. You bring a strong customer-service orientation, showing empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence being comfortable receiving feedback and enjoy working in a collaborative, team-oriented creative environment. Preferred qualifications Experience with sound system design and prediction tools (e.g., Soundvision, EASE, ArrayCalc) and audio DSP and networked audio systems (e.g., Q-SYS, Tesira, Dante environments). Experience with 3D design tools for event layouts and stage designs (e.g., SketchUp, Vectorworks). A good understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., TCP/IP, AV over IP) as applied to modern AV systems. Experience with lighting systems and DMX control for live events and video recording and post-production workflows for event content. Industry certifications such as CTS, Dante Level 1, CCNA, or ITIL Foundation. Experience supporting macOS and Apple hardware in enterprise or production environments. The total cash range for this position in Austin is $87,000.00 to $121,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $139,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
