Senior Manager, Workplace Financial Wellness & Advised Solutions

About the Role

Vanguard is expanding how we support workplace investors; moving beyond retirement‑only solutions to deliver holistic financial wellness across the full investor lifecycle. As part of this evolution, the Director, Institutional Investment Strategy & Financial Wellness will lead a team of investment professionals responsible for delivering investment insight, analysis, and advisory support to Vanguard’s B2B clients.

This role is a senior people and strategy leader within Vanguard’s Workplace Solutions business. You will help shape how financial wellness products and investment services are positioned, supported, and delivered to institutional clients, while ensuring strong regulatory supervision and operational excellence.

In this role you will

  • Lead the development and execution of investment and financial wellness strategies aligned to Vanguard’s workplace and institutional client offerings.

  • Expand and evolve service models supporting B2B clients, including investment advisory, managed solutions, and financial wellness capabilities.

  • Partner cross‑functionally with Product, Sales, Client Strategy, Marketing, Legal, and Compliance to enable effective client engagement and growth.

  • Contribute subject‑matter expertise to thought leadership, publications, and external‑facing insights that reinforce Vanguard’s position as an industry leader.

  • Hire, develop, and lead a team of investment professionals, including managers and senior analysts.

  • Set clear performance expectations, coach leaders, and conduct formal performance and compensation reviews in alignment with firm policies.

  • Build a high‑performance, inclusive culture focused on excellence, accountability, and talent development.

  • Oversee highly complex investment analysis supporting institutional solutions, including asset allocation, fund performance, and competitive positioning.

  • Maintain deep expertise in capital markets, asset management, and the institutional retirement and financial wellness landscape.

  • Monitor industry trends, competitors, and regulatory developments to inform strategy and decision‑making.

  • Conduct regulatory supervision of registered associates, ensuring adherence to applicable FINRA, state, and firm requirements.

  • Oversee the effective use of internal and external data, tools, and systems supporting analytical and supervisory responsibilities.

  • Partner closely with Compliance and Risk to ensure governance standards are met across the team’s activities.

What it takes

  • 10–15+ years of experience in financial services, asset management, wealth management, or institutional investment advisory.

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience, including leading managers or senior professionals.

  • Experience supporting institutional or workplace clients strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated success operating in a regulated environment with supervisory responsibility.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.

  • FINRA registrations (Series 7, 63, and 65) required or ability to obtain quickly based on role responsibilities.

  • CFA, CFP, or equivalent professional designation strongly preferred.
