We fight for Unions for All and a Government that Works for All so that all of us, across race and place, can have power together in unions and participate fully in our democracy.     </p> <p><strong>PURPOSE: </strong>The Senior Transformation Coordinator is a management-level position.  The purpose of this role is to drive and support the transformation and modernization of local unions through the adoption of new technologies, experimentation with new and promising strategies, and innovation in all aspects of member recruitment, organizing, and representation. In particular, this role will focus on developing and implementing strategies to support union members’ ability to pay dues directly to their local unions – rather than through their paychecks – shoring up union resources and protecting workers and their organizations from politically-motivated attacks.    </p> <p><strong>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong>: (Any one position may not include all of the specific duties and responsibilities listed.  Examples provide a general summary of the work required and should not be treated as a total and complete list of expected duties to be performed by employees in the classification.)</p> <ul> <li aria-level="1">Research new technologies, tools, strategies, and systems for membership recruitment, mobilization, leadership development, member servicing, and back-office administration.</li> <li aria-level="1">Support SEIU affiliates in implementing new systems for processing payments and contributions from members.</li> </ul> <ul> <li aria-level="1">Managing membership recruitment and PAC fundraising campaigns utilizing phone banks, SMS, email and other direct communication.</li> </ul> <ul> <li aria-level="1">Make presentations and pitches to stakeholders for trial or adoption of new tools or strategies.</li> <li aria-level="1">Research and perform case studies to apply new technologies & systems to meet the challenges of SEIU affiliates.</li> <li aria-level="1">Gather and report new knowledge from research and experiments. Convene stakeholders to share learnings and best practices. Collaborate with colleagues to drive adoption and scale implementation of best practices across the union.</li> <li aria-level="1">Partner with SEIU affiliates to evaluate, assess and make recommendations regarding database, finance, call centers, and other back-office systems.  </li> <li aria-level="1">Support SEIU's mission to become an anti-racist organization through support of local unions and work within the TWR Department.</li> <li aria-level="1">Evaluate, recruit and manage consultants and vendors.</li> <li aria-level="1">Provide training and coaching to SEIU affiliate staff.</li> <li aria-level="1">Produce accurate, well-written, and analytical memos, letters, and other documents that help inform leadership.</li> </ul> <ul> <li aria-level="1">Drafting and optimizing scripts for live phone bank campaigns, SMS campaigns and other direct communications.</li> <li aria-level="1">Organize colleagues and stakeholders around shared goals, facilitate collaborative planning, and drive progress to goals through active project management.</li> <li aria-level="1">Performs other duties and special projects as assigned in support of the program.</li> </ul> <p><strong>CONTACTS:</strong>Together We Rise (TWR) department leadership and staff; Local union leaders and staff; other SEIU International staff; vendors and consultants; staff and leaders of allied organizations and research institutions.</p> <p><strong>DIRECTION AND DECISION MAKING:</strong>This position reports to the TWR Campaign Director for direct join campaigns within the Transformation and Technology team and may collaborate with other staff within the Together We Rise Department, the Data Systems and Analytics Department, the Communications Department, other departments and “hubs” of SEIU, and with consultants and vendors. Must work without a high degree of supervision and have the ability to manage their own work and the work of others. Requires a high level of judgment and ability to take initiative and work independently. Must use a high level of judgment and discretion in resolving problems within SEIU internally, with our Locals, and with consultants and vendors. Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality.</p> <p><strong>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</strong>: Bachelor’s degree or at least three (3) years of supervisory experience and at least 5 years of experience in a union, political, or issue-driven environment. An understanding of current issues and conditions for labor unions. Or, a combination of education and experience that would provide for the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:</p> <ul> <li aria-level="1">Knowledge of organizing, membership recruitment, fundraising, strategies and tactics;</li> <li aria-level="1">Knowledge of labor unions and how they operate, particularly local union structures, systems, and administrative processes;</li> <li aria-level="1">Ability to evaluate systems and processes to identify weaknesses and solutions; </li> <li aria-level="1">Ability to research and evaluate multiple products, vendors or systems and recommend the best options;</li> <li aria-level="1">Outstanding writing, verbal, and analytical communication skills; </li> <li aria-level="1">Must be able to work effectively with a diverse group of people;</li> <li aria-level="1">Understands the impact of the digital divide on communities of color and approaches technology with a racial justice lens;</li> <li aria-level="1">Demonstrated capacity to continuously develop knowledge and skills related to use of rapidly changing technology and platforms;</li> <li aria-level="1">Ability to manage projects and programs independently;</li> <li aria-level="1">Ability to organize colleagues and stakeholders around shared goals, facilitate planning and drive results through active program management;</li> <li aria-level="1">Must be a highly motivated self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment;</li> <li aria-level="1">Use of basic data management software including Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets required; experience with databases and CRMs is a plus;</li> <li aria-level="1">Organizing experience is a plus;</li> <li aria-level="1">Knowledge of call centers and payment processing systems is a plus;</li> <li aria-level="1">Ability to write, proofread, and speak Spanish a plus.</li> </ul> <p><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: </strong>This position will require work in various settings conducive to performing the tasks required to complete assignments. Travel and work beyond traditional business hours is required.</p>
