We are seeking a strategic and creative Vice President, Social Media to help lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our social media presence across Disney+ and Hulu. This role is ideal for a bold, forward-thinking leader with deep experience in the direct-to-consumer business, who understands the evolving global social landscape and how social media directly fuels subscriber acquisition, retention and lifetime value. You will oversee a high-performing team and play a pivotal role in shaping how our streaming brands come to life on social media. Key Responsibilities: Social Strategy & Innovation Partner with internal teams and key stakeholders to establish a social framework and strategy that can guide global markets, while owning the end-to-end execution domestically. Define and evolve D+ and Hulu’s social media strategy and voice, aligning with brand and content goals. Lead platform-specific strategies that drive engagement, community growth, and brand relevance while considering the shifting nature of the streaming landscape. Analyze audience behavior, content performance, and trends to inform strategy. Strategically connect our streaming library with cultural moments, ensuring our content remains relevant and top of mind for diverse audiences. Serve as a strategic partner to platform teams, maintaining close relationships to stay ahead of beta opportunities, new ad products, creator tools, commerce integrations, and evolving best practices. Demonstrate strong technology fluency across major and emerging social platforms, with a deep understanding of how platform capabilities, algorithms, and product roadmaps influence content strategy, distribution, and performance. Creative Development & Execution Partner with creative leadership to develop compelling, platform-native content. Oversee content production—whether in-house or via agency partners—ensuring alignment with brand tone and objectives. Champion bold, breakthrough ideas that push the boundaries of what’s possible on social. Closely align with the various creator workstreams to influence and ensure a clear throughline that connects to our overall social strategy. Direct-to-Consumer & Streaming Leadership Translate content launches, tentpole moments, and always‑on programming into social-first strategies that build buzz and drive social engagement. Partner closely with Growth, Lifecycle, Product, and Analytics teams to ensure social strategies align with subscription funnels, release cadences, and lifecycle moments. Leverage data and insights to optimize social performance against DTC KPIs, including reach, engagement, conversion, and fandom. Team Leadership & Operations Act as editor in chief of D+ and Hulu editorial calendars and publishing strategies across all social channels. Mentor and develop a collaborative, high-performing team. Oversee performance reporting and use insights to optimize future campaigns. Manage external vendors and agencies to ensure best-in-class execution. Audience Growth & Engagement Set clear global KPIs for audience development and content performance aligned with our segment’s broader streaming strategy and corporate goals. Demonstrate the ability to think through a UGC lens to creatively amplify word-of-mouth conversation and organic audience engagement. Lead innovation projects that test new platforms and early-stage features. Implement new monetization opportunities in partnership with the global advertising teams. Qualifications: 15+ years in digital and social marketing, with executive-level leadership experience. 5+ years managing mid-sized teams across multiple functions. 5+ years working in streaming / direct-to-consumer with demonstrated impact on audience or subscriber growth. Deep expertise in social media platforms, trends, and creative best practices. Strong understanding of how social media integrates into DTC growth, lifecycle marketing, and audience retention strategies. Experience collaborating with influencers to drive brand awareness. Deep understanding of the paid social landscape. Proven success in consumer marketing, preferably within media or entertainment. Strong analytical and communication skills, with a track record of presenting to senior leadership. Strong creative instincts and a passion for digital storytelling. The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $214,600 to $287,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
