Must ensure that food is prepped, and production areas maintained to NYC Health and Hospitals customer specifications, standards, and recipes and that HACCP standards and customer guidelines are followed. **General tasks and responsibilities will include:** - Ensure that all food being handles is kept at proper temperatures per HACCP Standards. - Complete and Maintain Daily HACCP Logs as applicable to workstation(s). - Ensure all food is properly identified and labeled with the item name, date produced an expiration date. - Ensure all food is prepped and prepared in accordance with established policies and procedures to be completed within a reasonable established time schedule. - Notify Management of any quality concerns with any food product used. - Notify Management of All open wounds or illness - Wash hands regularly (i.e. After All Breaks, lunch, after leaving Production Area(s) and between items that are handled. - Cleans Kitchen, Kitchen Equipment, Offices, Stairways, Lunchroom, Restrooms and Flooring. - Assists with transporting, loading and unloading supplies. - Maintains grounds area(s) i.e. debris indoors and outdoors: minimal salt and snow removal - Maintains clean and sanitary work area. - Retrieve requested items from walk-in refrigerators/ freezers. - Weigh and count ALL items requested (max lifting requirement 50 lbs). - Pack ALL requested items in bins and transport racks in refrigerated environment. - Validate paperwork for requested items by facility; Document Expirations Date(s) of ALL applicable items. - Follow ALL Facility Policies and Regulations. - Successfully complete On-Going Training in the following areas, Personal Hygiene, HACCP, Hand-Washing, Sanitation, Temperature Monitoring, Fire Safety, Equipment Handling/Cleaning, and Safe Work Operations. - Perform other related duties as required. **Minimum Qualifications** Ability to read and write English and to understand and carry out simple instructions. **Department Preferences** **Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Requirements:** - Experience as a Food Preparer/ Aide in High-Volume Industrial Kitchen, Hotel or Restaurant Environment. - High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is preferred - NYC Food Safety Certification Preferred but not required. - Three (3) Years of Cooking Experience Preferred. **How To Apply** If you wish to apply for this position, please apply online by clicking the "Apply Now" button. _If applying online, please include your cover letter in the same file attachment with your uploaded resume._ NYC Health and Hospitals offers a competitive benefits package that includes: - Comprehensive Health Benefits for employees hired to work 20+ hrs. per week - Retirement Savings and Pension Plans - Loan Forgiveness Programs for eligible employees - Paid Holidays and Vacation in accordance with employees' Collectively bargained contracts - College tuition discounts and professional development opportunities - Multiple employee discounts programs **Salary: $**$44,005.00
